The Perks of Being a Wallflower

If you have ever felt alone or insecure, you should give The Perks of Being a Wallflower a read. It is a book about a boy named Charlie who goes to a new school, and is the definition of a wallflower. He is shy, introverted and tends to avoid people. He becomes friends with a girl named Sam and her brother Patrick. Through the friendships he develops, he really begins to learn who he is as a person and comes out of his shell.

This book is considered to be a cult classic. Throughout the book a lot of different famous movies, books and music are referenced. To Kill a Mockingbird, Peter Pan, Rocky Horror Picture Show, The Beatles, Smashing Pumpkins and many more are the art forms that are mentioned. I believe that the referencing to these popular pieces of literature is what has helped this book become the classic that it is.  Because of its popularity, it is being produced into a film which actually hits theatres this coming weekend. Logan Lerman plays Charlie, Emma Watson plays Sam and Ezra Miller plays Patrick. I'm really looking forward to seeing one of my favorite books come to life on the big screen! I recommend you to go and watch this film, or read the book. What is your favorite book to movie?
