One of the newest headlines coming from the show is the birth of 18 year old Anna's daughter, Kaitlyn, who was born with three thumbs. Although not a life threatening issue to the newborn, the news blew up on the Internet causing quite the controversy with the already news-making family. This wasn't the last of the news that the world heard about baby Kaitlyn either, a few weeks later there was more controversy when photos surfaced of the newborn being given Mountain Dew with her pacifier. Many started to question the family and the diet that they allowed their children to follow, especially after several more episodes highlighted the eating habits of Alana herself; finding her consuming copious amounts of sugars throughout the day.
The next biggest controversy that has faced the family is the jail time that several of the cast members have faced. June Shannon, Alana's mother, served four days in prison after her landlord sued the family for unpaid rent and bills; once she had paid the money she was released and sent on her way. Unfortunately, June is not the only member of the family with a criminal record, Mike "Sugar Bear" Thompson, also faced jail time due to a crime spree, leaving him with a sentence of five years in jail. Many began to wonder if this family was fit to raise the four children they had, but none of this stopped them from continuing on with their life; letting none of the controversy or negative comments affect them.
Although I have only seen the show a handful of times, I will not lie, it is quite entertaining, much like all the other pointless reality television shows that air every day. Would I go out of my way to watch it? Probably not, but if it's conveniently on I would probably tune in. Despite all the controversy the show and family has faced, it was recently announced that the show has been renewed for a second season, as well as several holiday episodes. Will you be tuning in to the new season of Here Comes Honey Boo Bo, or is it really just not your cup of tea?
Hey Megan,
ReplyDeleteI don't even know where to start with this show! At first I was absolutely disgusted and had zero desire to watch it. It just seems to be on all the time though! Eventually I cracked and gave in to watching an episode - just to see what all the ranting and raving was about. I couldn't believe my eyes and ears!
Even though I had the utmost disgust and loathing for this show, I couldn't help but watch the whole darn episode, and continue tuning in whenever it happens to come on!I'm not proud to say I've watched it and I agree, I seem to be watching it when its conveniently on and there's nothing else to watch on t.v - so yes, I admit, I will tune in. It's pretty sickly entertaining. TLC has something here with this show - I'm not exactly sure what?! But they keep the viewers intrigued in some wierd way.
These people are just the most 'redneck' people I've ever come across! I thought the guys off of 'Duck Dynasty' were bad! HA, not so much! It's just so hard to not watch - you can't turn away. Wondering what they are going do or say next, or when they are going to do something just so disgusting! Boggles my mind!
Anyways - this controversial show's got me and I'm sure many others under its spell...
