Much of the world has been quite worried about Amanda Bynes due to her outrageous behaviour in the last few months, all pointing to substance abuse or the development of a severe mental disorder. With constant run ins with the law, including a suspended license, hit and runs and DUI's, you would think someone would be rushing to help save the troubled starlet. Unfortunately, this has not been the case and the only people that have tried to help her quickly left her side when she refused their assistance. Her parents are reportedly now by her side, but many say it may be too late. Much like every other individual, the help of the people around her may not be what she needs, she may need to hit her own personal rock bottom before she comes to terms that she requires professional help. This is the exact process that the lead singer of Green Day, Billie Joe Armstrong, had to go through in order to come to terms with his addiction.
When people think of celebrities making headlines many wouldn't think for a second that it would be about punk rock band, Green Day, but that's exactly what happened this past weekend. During the iHeart Radio Music Festival, Billie Joe Armstrong had an onstage meltdown when their time was reportedly cut short for another artists set. His rant was was filled with extremes amount of profanity and shots against both Usher and Justin Bieber, quickly hit the internet and became top news everywhere. Many who know Green Day, know that they are not ones to keep their opinions to themselves, but this was an extreme case that many would not have expected from the band. According to inside sources, Billie Joe had been sober for over a year and it wasn't until the festival that he began drinking again, initiating his onstage meltdown. Fortunately, this meltdown was enough for the singer to check himself into a treatment facility two days later, receiving the help he needs to fight his addictions.
The idea of substance abuse in Hollywood has become one that is no longer shocking to the outside world, but it is still a serious issue that needs to be further looked at. There have been several success stories and ones that are still in the works, but unfortunately not all individuals receive the help they need in order to overcome their inner demons. Personally, I am rooting for both Amanda Bynes and Billie Joe Armstrong to receive the help they need and come back out on top, showing the world the talent they are so widely known for. Best wishes to both of them!
