So as of last Saturday autumn is officially upon us and you know what that means! Hoodies, sweat pants and hot beverages! Now this leads me to the age old question Starbucks vs Tim Hortons. Many Canadians have this dilemma during this time of year. For some people the decision is solely based on pricing. What I believe the bigger question is though is quality. Are you getting more for your money by choosing the cheaper option or will paying more actually get you better coffee? Many people believe that Starbucks is just the over priced whip cream version of Tim Hortons. Now in some ways this is true but, it all depends on what your looking for. For some the large variety of drinks that come in different colors and flavors all made up in a nice little aesthetically pleasing package is what they're looking for, others don't care for what their drink looks like but, rather want to fill the void of their caffeine cravings for the day.

Lately, I've noticed that Tim Hortons is trying to change up its marketing scheme lately by introducing a bigger variety of drinks to the consumer. Some of these include an array of new smoothies and lattes. I feel like this is causing Tim Hortons to loose its uniqueness when compared to Starbucks. Since when has Tim Hortons been about the looks of their beverages? For me going to Tim Hortons when I was younger was a place to go to with family and friends to just talk and catch up with each other. It never really mattered about what we were drinking or eating but rather who we were spending time with. In today's world people are almost always on the go. When was the last time you went to a coffee shop whether it be Tim Hortons or Starbucks to just sit with some friends and relax? Instead of trying to run in and out as fast as you can?
I think that this fall we should all try to slow down just a little bit to look around and actually take in what's happening around us. Stop and take they time to call one of your old friends that you haven't seen in awhile or even just send them a text to see how they're doing. Instead of dashing in and out to get your caffeine fix make it a habit to meet your friends for coffee and sit down and chat. I can guarantee you that it'll brighten up there day as much as it will yours. So to answer the question of Tim Hortons or Starbucks I say that it really doesn't matter as long as you genuinely enjoy it with the people around you.

It is very true that we're always on the go these days. Personally, I visit Starbucks very often just to sit and chat with friends or study. It really is a nice activity that people should try to do more often. When Starbucks first started the whole purpose of the coffee shop was to get people to sit and stay. The company was hesitant to create drive-thrus, but they went ahead with it anyways. The demand for needing things right here, right now is increasing in most people's lives. Starbucks probably introduced their drive-thrus just to keep up with that trend. They still design their stores to be inviting though. The whole premise behind the coffee shop was to have people purchase a beverage and enjoy the atmosphere, whether alone or with others. Most Starbucks and Tim Hortons locations still continue to be full of people chatting, which shows that not all hope is lost. I do agree though that people do need to stop and enjoy the things around them before it's too late.
