The Boys on the Stairs

So I'm sure by now that almost everyone has heard of the immensely popular British boy band One Direction! For any of you who don't know who they are I here's a little summary. One Direction is made up of five boys Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik, Harry Styles and Niall Horan. These five boys decided to try out for the UK version of  The X Factor as solo artists. However, they were all cut and didn't make the live shows. It was then that head judge Simon Cowell decided to put them together to form a boy band and thus One Direction was born!

Now you maybe thinking that this is going to be just one another fan girl rant. I assure you though that it is not. I for one do like One Direction but in no way do I feel the need to scream like I just won the lottery every time they're mentioned in any type of social context. What I am going to talk about is how the boys have changed yet not changed (if that makes any sense...). When the boys first started out their careers they had never met each other they were complete and total strangers that were told to work together and make music. Now to anyone this would be daunting but, as the live shows went on anyone could seen that the boys quickly progressed from being friends to being  brothers in a matter of months. The boys didn't have much of a fan base at first but and any fans that they did have were mostly from people watching there online video diaries.

Soon they went on to release their first single What Makes You Beautiful. The song was an instant success both in the UK and in North America. Now from what I've seen many singers when they start out are very humble and willing to do anything for their fans but, as time goes on it seems to me that many celebrities forget what it was like when they were just normal every day people. They seem to think that just because they now have money that they are entitled to anything and everything that their heart desires. Soon they begin to forget abut there fans and as a result their music also begins to suffer. Rather than make music that they actually enjoy making they make music that will make them the most money. Now I know what your thinking! That sounds exactly like One Direction! Yes, their music is mostly bubble gum pop, their making millions of dollars and had millions of fans but, my main point here is that the boys themselves haven't changed. They're still the same awkward and funny guys that we all saw on the X Factor and they still try to take as much time out to meet and get to know their fans as they can. They may be celebrities but they still try to live there lives as normally as possible and keep themselves grounded.
