News Flash: OPRAH WINFREY ... is coming HERE to the SADDLEDOME for a MOTIVATIONAL SPEECH ... January 22, 2012 ... ticket's go on sale this week!
I would guess that a good 99.9% of Canadians know who Oprah Winfrey is! How could you not? Oprah is an extremely powerful, impressive and talented women, who is best known for her successful, and entertaining talk show, The Oprah Winfrey Show, which I'm sure everyone in this class has viewed at least once. I saw numerous episodes as a child, due to the fact that my mother watched Oprah religiously. Out of Dr. Phil, Tyra Banks, and Ellen DeGeneres, Oprah was definitely my favorite. This women even has her own magazine for goodness sake. How exciting it is, that she has decided to come here, to share her life story with us, and tips for success.

Oprah endured a difficult childhood, where she lived in poverty, and faced conflict due to the fact that she was an African-America women but she didn't let any of this stop her. This is extremely admirable. AI also admire her for the fact that she has positively changed so many peoples lives, and donated money to various charities, such as O Ambassadors. Go Oprah!

The only issue people have with Oprah coming to town, are the expensive tickets, which range between $140 and $400. Also, the length of the speech has not yet been released. which makes people more hesitant to pay for such a costly ticket. The only information given, was that there would be a question and answer period. Hmmm, what question would you ask Oprah Winfrey if you got the chance? I would ask Oprah what motivated her as a child, or how she motivated herself. As much as I would love to go, I would only purchase the cheapest ticket(s) available; so fingers crossed that these aren't sold out too quickly. I am really interested in motivational speeches, inspirational quotes, and uplifting stories, so this event would be perfect for me. You can't put a price on Oprah Winfrey!
What about you? Anyone interested in seeing Oprah Winfrey? Or do you think it's too expensive?

Just an update: Oprah tickets went on sale Thursday November 8th (yesterday) at 8 o'clock in the morning ... I was at Ticket Master downstairs in the Wyckham House at 8:30 that morning, and every single ticket was already sold out. I knew the tickets were going to be popular but not that popular! I mean seriously, in 30 min, every single ticket was purchased! Gosh, this just further shows how influential, and powerful Oprah Winfrey is.

Also, if you take a look on Kijiji, it is absolutely crazy how much people are selling their tickets for. Some are selling tickets anywhere from $400 - $1 500!

Hi Riley,
ReplyDeleteI'm not a huge fan of Oprah, maybe that is just because I haven't really watched her shows so I don't really know what she is all about. I think she is an awesome role model and definitely someone to look up to. I wouldn't turn down the chance to hear her speak, like you said I think some things she has to say could be life changing (or at least make you really think). However, I think $400 to hear someone just talk is too much. Sure maybe a very popular singer because they entertain and put on a show, but just to hear someone talk... way too much.
I never would have thought her tickets would sell out that fast either, especially with the prices and not even knowing how long she will speak for.
I do look forward to reading the reviews on her speech and if it was worth all the buzz!
Hi Riley,
ReplyDeleteI grew up watching Oprah, as my step-mother was a huge fan! At the time I didn't really enjoy her show, but as I grew up and started to understand it a little more, I definitly learned to love it. When I heard she was coming to town I was a little intrigued, but once I heard about the price, I knew there was no way I was going! I absolutely understand how it sold out so quickly, as she has quite the large fan-base.
I am disappointed you didn't get tickets, as I am sure it would be the night of a life-time. So far I've heard so many people are hoping she does some sort of giveaway like she used to do on her shows, haha! I think it would be quite an exciting show to go to.
Don't give uo on giving tickets though, as I've already seen contests to win tickets! If you're into the whole club scene, Cowboys has chances to win tickets every Wednesday night, so that is always an option! Also, as I've found out with many other events, Ticketmaster tends to release some last minute tickets the morning of the event, so you should check back the day of the show! Good luck one going to see her, and if you get the opportunity, I hope it's everything you imagined!
Thank you Megan!
