Justin Bieber Visits Calgary

Over the weekend, one of the biggest pop stars in the world graced our presence with a concert at the Scotiabank Saddledome. That's right, none other than Justin Bieber made a pit stop on his world tour to come say hi to all his Calgarian fans. Fortunately, I was one of the privileged individuals that was able to go and see his show, and I enjoyed every second of it. I had literally spent the last couple months entering every contest and going to every event possible in order to try and win tickets into the sold out show. Unfortunately, I had absolutely no luck in either category. I spent the night before the concert contacting everyone on Kijiji, hoping that someone would have decent tickets, they all turned out to be fake numbers and email addresses; by this point i had given up on going to see him.

Early the next morning I received a phone call at work from my roommate who said she had decided to take one last look on Ticketmaster, and by some fluke there just happened to be a pair of pretty decent tickets. I was going to Justin Bieber after all! There was nothing that could have ruined my mood for the rest of the day; I could barely contain my excitement throughout the rest of my shift.

I had class until 8pm so I had to miss Carly Rae Jepsen perform, but I was completely okay with that, as long as I got to see Justin. As soon as I got to my seat, he descended onto the stage with a huge set of wings and opened with the single "All Around the World." You could tell from the excitement of every individual in the Saddledome, that they were all true Beliebers and had been waiting what seemed like a lifetime, to see their idol. There was barely a soul in the arena that sat down at any point during the show, with most up on their feet dancing along with his performances. He sang many familiar songs, such as As Long As You Love Me, Never Say Never and Somebody to Love; as well as his new single Beauty and a Beat, featuring Nicki Minaj. It wasn't until the encore that fans got to hear smash hits Baby and Boyfriend; this is when the crowd truly went wild, the moment everyone had been waiting for.

Overall, the concert was spectacular. I had seen Justin the first time he came to Calgary and he has grown so much, turning a concert into a spectacle that many were dying to be a part of. There was constant energy throughout his performances, with constant dancing and interactions with the crowd. At one point during the beginning of the show, Justin had actually asked, "How're you doing Edmonton?" But all the fans were far too amazed by his appearance that it seemed no one even seemed to notice, or care. I am absolutely astounded that I was able to be part of the concert of the year and experience the energy that all the fans were exuding throughout the whole show. It really was one of the greater concerts I have ever been to, and I sure have been to a lot of different shows. When and if Justin ever makes a stop back in our city I would recommend that people try and go see him, it is just artists evolve from such a young age and to understand exactly what they are capable of.
